Making Magazine - Beach Beautiful

Woo hoo! A few weeks ago I told you how busy I had been and promised to share with you some exciting news ...

Yesterday morning on my way to work I ran into the newsagent and bought the latest copy of Making magazine (I couldn't wait for it to be delivered!). I excitedly opened it and was delighted to see my shell mirror on page 3 with a lovely introduction about me and my blog by editor, Emma.

"New to Making this month is designer Torie Jayne. I recently came across Torie's website and fell in love with her simple ideas and clean fresh colourways and spent the next hour fantasizing about living in her uncluttered world, before returning to my own very cluttered one and contacted her with an invitation to share her ideas with Making. Happily she obliged and has made some gorgeous projects to add a little more seaside magic to this issue"

Ib Laursen

This week for my 'labels i love' page, I bring you one of Scandinavia's leading trendsetters, Ib Laursen.

Ib Laursen was started in 1971 in the old streets of Ribe with furniture design, applied art and gifts. Their assortment of well-designed cosy products are for both the garden and home.

Today I wanted to share with you their gorgeous, vintage-inspired garden treasures like the birdcage plant shelves, tin strawberry signs and array of glass cloches.

My beads and sequins organized

I have finally finished sorting all my beads and sequins! I had dozens of plastic bags, pots and tubes filled with sequins and beads and could spend ages rifling through my boxes to find what I was looking for! So, after buying a bunch of small, plastic, stackable pots and some clear drawers from Muji I was well on my way to getting them organized. On a recent trip to Tiger I saw they had some larger stackable pots and at £2 a stack they were considerably cheaper than elsewhere. I bought some and finally all my beads and sequins had a home!

I love how easy it is to find what I am looking for now and because the pots can be attached to each other in any combo, if I get new beads and trims I can re-arrange them in colour order!

Strawberries

Today on Inspirational Pins I bring you my first "seasonal fruit" inspiration: juicy, summery strawberries.

Here in the UK strawberries are in season for only six weeks from early June to mid-August. The Elsanta variety accounts for 80 per cent of the British fruit sold in UK supermarkets, however other varieties are available at "pick your own" farms.

Strawberries are synonymous with the British summer and during the Wimbledon tennis tournament roughly 27,000 kilos of strawberries are eaten!

I love baking with fresh fruit and now when I need inspiration for my strawberries I can peruse my Pinterest board, Strawberries. Top of my list of things to try is the mini eclairs with strawberries but I will need to adapt the recipe to be gluten free!

Rebecca Newport

Welcome to Friday Feature. This week I am sharing with you the beautiful work of stylist, Rebecca Newport.

Rebecca Newport is a London based freelance stylist for interiors, still life and food props. After studying Textile Design at the prestigious Chelsea College of Art she started life out as a fashion and homeware buyer for BHS and Marks and Spencer. Since then she has turned her attention to styling and her delightful work can be seen in Elle Decoration, Country Living Magazine and Country Homes and Interiors magazine, to name a few.

We are having such miserable wet weather here, even by British standards, so I am dreaming of the sun coming out because I really want to play in the garden! But until it does (ever hopeful) I am loving looking at Rebecca's gorgeous outdoor, stylishly unique shoots.
